 Disadvantages of social media

moral panic - a theory that can be used to describe the way in which the ,ass media create folk devils out of products or groups of people (tiktok - international security concern)

Fake News - the way in which unauthorised or untrue news sources are spread virtually using social  media (donald trump -)

when something spreads virally it can also be a negative thing bot just a positive depending if it is true.

trolling/cyberbullying - are terms used to described the way that celebrity/individuals are targeted online in negative ways. 

negative body image/unrealistic expectations - is way which social media and online technologies can be used to promote false lifestyles, which can be damaging to mental health of teenagers.








negative publicity for brands or companies-viral memes, parodies, sarcasm are all problems for large brands.

cultural impact - proliferation of social media cultural imperialism and promotion/ obsession with celebrity culture and commodities



celebrity commodities - commercial/ consumer product something you can buy yourself

Identify two ways social media can contribute to anti-social behaviour.

One way social media can lead to anti-social behaviour is if people are speaking to one another online then they wont need to physically go out and speak to them as often as they can communicate by texting or calling one another. 
Another way anti-social behaviour can happen due to social media is that when people go out to big events such as festivals or out in town clubbing etc, the thing which is most commonly posted in things which go wrong such as fighting or someone drunk and cant move. This will put people off wanting to go out as thy wont want to get themselves into that state where they are in danger.
